IIT Delhi Inaugurates CoE for Promotion of Computational Abilities
The Indian Institute of Technology has opened up a Centre of Excellence to promote Computation Fluid Dynamics. The Centre of Excellence has been brought up in partnership with ANSYS as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility Agreement.
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has recently inaugurated the latest Centre of Excellence which will be focusing on Promotion of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). IIT Delhi’s director Prof V Ramgopal Rao along with Rafiq Somani who is the Area Vice President of India and South Asia at ANSYS had attended the inauguration programme with many more esteemed guests.
As per the Corporate Social Responsibility Agreement of ANSYS with IIT Delhi, it was decided that the Center of Excellence for CFD will be inaugurated. ANSYS is a US Based software developer that has extension here in India. As per the agreement made between the two parties, i.e. IIT Delhi and ANSYS, ANSYS will be providing the funding for the 3-year project that will be executed by IIT Delhi’s Foundation of Innovation and Technology Transfer, stated Rafiq Somani. The main aim of the partnership between the two parties is to help PhD students to gain valuable knowledge as well as have better chances for employability. This will not only help the students but the industry as well by introducing solutions that are environment-friendly in the future, he further added.
Computational Fluid Dynamics, in layman’s terms, is a device that is used to convert solutions that is gathered using data structures and data analysis, into processes or products in a much faster and cost-effective manner.

Prof Vivek V Buwa, from the Department of Chemical Engineering and the coordinator of the Center of Excellence at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, states that the students will be imparted with knowledge on how to use the CFD based tools and research in order to create methods for the development of innovative as well as efficient products and processes.
