IIT-Gandhinagar Invites Applications for PhD Programme

Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar has announced admissions to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme 2^nd semester in different fields for the academic session 2016. The admissions are open in the following areas:-

• Computer Science and Engineering
• Language & Literature
• Earth Sciences
• Political Science
• Cognitive Science
• Mechanical Engineering
• Mathematics
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Philosophy
• Electrical Engineering
• Sociology
• Psychology
• History

Eligibility:-

• The candidates must possess a Postgraduate degree in Basic Science with GATE/NET qualification
• The candidates who have a graduate degree in professional courses like B.E/ B.Tech along with GATE/NET qualification can also apply for the programme
• The candidates who have qualified a postgraduate degree or professional courses are also eligible
• The candidates who have qualification mentioned above with two years of research experience will be eligible for Rs. 28,000 of financial support

Application Procedure:-

• Online applications are open for the candidates to apply for any of the specialisations
• There is no application fee
• The candidates need not send the hard copies of the application forms to the institute
• The candidates who are applying for more than one discipline have to submit separate application forms for each discipline
• After filling the application, take the printout of the form
• The candidates need to carry the application form and required documents at the time of interview

Important Dates:-

• The candidates have to submit the application form on or before October 2, 2016
• The names of shortlisted candidates will be announced on October 17, 2016
• The written test and interview will take place from November 4 to 7, 2016

Procedure of Selection:-

• The applications will be shortlisted based on their academic credentials
• The shortlisted candidates need to attend a written test and interview
• The admission will be granted based on the performance in written test and interview
