IIT Kharagpur's ‘Semester Away Programme’ Enabling Students to Study Abroad

Recently, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur has launched Students Away Programme (SAP) through which the students will have a chance to opt for a semester or two at any one of the foreign university or any other Indian university before the completion of the course. Through SAP, the students can choose an institution in abroad or India as well as a course offered by them.

The students need to choose a course, take the approval of faculty and apply for the course. Dean of Post Graduate Programme, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Prof. P.K. Das revealed that the students who are pursuing third-year B.Tech course and second-year M.Tech course with CGPA 7 or above are eligible to apply for the Semester Away Programme (SAP). The students must understand that they should not have any backlogs or disciplinary action against them in the past.

Prof. Das clarified that the students who opt for Semester Away Programme (SAP) need to arrange their course fee. However, if IIT-Kharagpur has signed a MoU with any university that students opt for, the tuition and hostel fees could be waived. The students will also have an exemption from tuition fee and hostel fee if they bag scholarships.
