ISM Dhanbad Convocation Ceremony: PM Modi Likely to be Chief Guest
- The official date of the ISM Dhanbad Convocation is not out yet but is expected to take place in May 2018.

Indian Institute of Technology, IIT (ISM Dhanbad) is preparing to host PM Narendra Modi as their chief guest during its annual convocation ceremony expected to take place next month. A total of 3,814 students from 2016 and 2017 batches will be receiving their degrees during the ceremony.
The convocation for the 2016 batch could not take place due to the unavailability of PM Modi. Also, it is for the first time that the prestigious institute will award IIT degrees since the time it was upgraded in August 2016.

Dheeraj Kumar, Professor, IIT (ISM) informed the authorities that they have not decided the final date of the convocation. However, the institute is gearing up for the same and the preparations are in full swing. He also said that the ceremony is likely to take place in early May as the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Jharkhand during that time to inaugurate various projects and schemes. All the students, faculty, and non-teaching staff of the institute are thrilled and excited about the PMs visit.

As per the records, during his visit, Prime Minister will inaugurate the new library building of the institute and a girls hostel. The new library building is considered as the tallest library of the country. The convocation will be held at Penman Auditorium. The institute is already chalking out the plan to accommodate outstation students and other guests attending the convocation ceremony.
