There are a total of 23 IIT colleges in India that offer B.Tech & M.Tech courses through JEE Advanced and GATE. IITs are considered as top engineering institutes in India and admission to UG courses in IIT colleges of India is done through JoSAA counselling.

Indian Institutes of Technology, popularly known as IITs are the most prestigious and top engineering institutes in the country. They are the autonomous institutes for higher education in the technical field and are most popular for the B.Tech courses that IITs offer. At present, there are 23 IITs in India which are governed by the Institute of Technology Act, 1961 - a common IT council.

Since the next admission process will soon commence and so will JoSAA counselling 2020, we thought that we will provide a list of top engineering colleges in India here so that you can perform well in your next engineering entrance exams 2020and get admission in the college of your choice. To get through an IIT is not a cakewalk as the IIT admission process is highly competitive. Every year, thousands of candidates apply for the limited seats but only the best out of the lot get to live their dream of being a part of such prestigious institutions. For admission in IITs, candidates have to appear in IIT entrance exam in two levels - Joint Entrance Exam: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. It is mandatory to qualify in both the exams to compete for seats and specialisation preferences which is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). A total of 23 IITs in the country offer a variety of courses ranging from the B.Tech level to the Doctoral programmes. While admission to B.Tech courses is based on JEE exam, admission to the M.Tech programmes is on the basis of the GATE exam. Dear Student,

NIT, Srinagar does not offer admission to B.Tech lateral entry. If you want to take admission, you will have to qualify JEE Mains/ AIEEE for the admission to 1st-year B.Tech program. The fee for the B.Tech program at NIT, Srinagar is INR 1,36,000. annually.

How is the EIE branch at NIT Agartala as compared to the Electrical branch?

Dear Student,

NIT Agartala is one of the premier institutes in India and both Instrumentation Engineering and Electrical Engineering are good at NIT Agartala. However, choosing among the two totally depends on your preference and career goals. The institute provides 90% placements for both EIE and Electrical branches in some of the top-notch companies including IBM, Accenture, Google, etc. Hence, no matter which you choose, both EIE and Electrical branch at NIT Agartala is worth it.
