Jamia & DU Agree to Share Libraries, Labs and Teachers
Yogesh Tyagi, VC of Delhi University attended the function as the Chief Guest. He clarified that the agreement regarding sharing resources has to be finalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Jamia Millia Islamia and Delhi University have decided to share resources which include teachers, laboratories and libraries. The announcement was made by Vice-Chancellors of both the universities at the foundation day celebrations of Jamia.

He revealed that the main objective of making this agreement was to enable ‘maximum utilisation of resources’. He clarified that the teachers would teach in both the universities. However, it does not mean that they move from DU to Jamia and vice-versa. Today, technology has given scope for various innovative ideas. The details regarding this partnership will be announced soon.
Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, stated that most of the DU students stay near Jamia and similarly many students of Jamia stay near DU colleges. The agreement between the two universities will benefit the students. He assured that the library of Jamia would be made available to DU students who stay nearby.
Jamia Millia Islamia (National Islamic University) is a public central university located in South Delhi. It was established in the year 1988 by nationalist Muslim leaders. The varsity offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines. Sultan of Saudi Arabia visited the university in the year 2006 and donated $30 million for the construction of a library. The name of the library is Zakir Hussian Library. It contains thousands of manuscripts, journals, research papers and books from many fields.
