K.M. Birla of Aditya Birla Group Shortlisted for the Chairman of IIM-Ahmedabad
The post of chairperson has been lying vacant since AM Naik, Chairman of L&T stepped down in the month of January.
A committee has suggested Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairperson of Aditya Birla Group, to be in the race for the post of chairman ofIndian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The committee has also recommended Deepak Parekh, Chairperson of HDFC and R. Seshasayee, Chairman of Infosys. The names have been forwarded to Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry for approval.

The post of the chairperson has been lying vacant since AM Naik, Chairman of L&T stepped down in the month of January. There has been a long delay in the appointment of a new chairperson. In March, the institute had appointed Pankaj Patel, Chairman of Cadila Healthcare as interim chairman.

In August, IIM-A had set up a new search committee to suggest names for the post of chairperson. The committee comprises of Kiran Karnik, Nasscom President, Sanjay Lalbhai, Chairman, Arvind Ltd, D. Shiva Kumar, Chairman, PepsiCo India.
