NALSAR Varsity Should be Set up in Amaravati: Chandrababu Naidu
N Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh CM has appealed to the Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi to set up Nalsar University in Amaravati. He said the state government will offer all the help in terms of infrastructure for setting up the university.
N Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister recently appealed to the Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi to start Nalsar University in Amaravati. He is of the opinion that the new state is in dire need of a premium law university to cater to the needs of the legal professionals. He said he will offer the necessary land, infrastructure and other things required for setting up of the university. He stated that the state government is willing to offer any facility for the law university.
Naidu further said that litigation is the biggest hurdle when it comes to development and he wants to strive towards minimizing litigation for the larger interest of the state development. Naidu referred to the teething problems of the state and said that the support staff of the High Court judicature will be given free accommodation and other facilities. The Nalsar University of Law, officially known as the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) is a legal studies institute situated in Shamirpet, Hyderabad.

It was set up in 1998 by the Act of the State Legislative Assembly (Act 34 of 1998) by Andhra Pradesh. It was the second national law university to be set up in India. It offers UG and PG programmes in law and postgraduate courses in business administration. The university offers a five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons) programme. Admission to this course is on the basis of CLAT exam.
