NEET-PG 2018 Cut-Off Percentile Reduced by 15%
- The reduction in the cut-off percentile will benefit over 18,000 candidates aspiring for PG medical courses.

In an official statement issued by the Union Health Ministry, the cut-off percentile forNEET-PG 2018andNEET-SS 2018has been reduced by15%.The latest decision is expected to benefit over 18,000 aspirants. Reduction of cut-off will improve the chances of filling upPost Graduate (PG) medical seatsand minimise wastage of seats.

Union Health Minister, Mr. JP Nadda assured that the government is making all the possible efforts to fill the upPG medical seats. The government is giving major emphasis to strengtheninghealth sectorin the country, and it will make sure that there is adequate manpower for providing quality health services, he highlighted.

NEET-PG 2018 counselling processis underway in most of the states. Even though there were some disturbances in a few states, NEET-PG 2018 counselling process is expected to be completed before the stipulated deadline.
In Maharashtra, NEET-PG counselling was delayed by a few days due to the protest by private medical colleges demanding an increase in fee structure. After negotiations, the government has agreed to increase the fees for management andNRI quotaseats which will be four and five times higher than that of merit seats. Finally, thefirst revised merit list of candidates for PG medical courseswas released byDMERlast week.

In Tamil Nadu, the state government and Tamil Nadu doctor’s demanded quota for in-service candidates. They also approached Supreme Court in this regard. After hearing the arguments, the apex court directed the state government to conductadmission process for PG medical courses as per MCI upgraded norms.
