The state government of Gujarat announced that students who failed to secure MBBS seat in their first attempt will be allowed for the admission to MBBS course in the second attempt. However, these students will have to score the required marks in NEET-UG to secure a seat in the MBBS programmes offered by the colleges in the state. The state government tweaked the existing norms to give a second chance to bright students who failed to secure an MBBS seat in the previous attempt. Last year, many of the students chose AYUSH and other allied courses as they failed to secure an MBBS seat.

According to the admission rules that were prevalent last year, students who secured admission in the first attempt were not allowed to switch the course. This rule has been revised by the state government, and the students admitted into other medical streams can change the course (if they wish) by clearing NEET. The NEET-UG score of the previous year will not be taken into consideration for such students.

Students who wish to change the course for MBBS course will have to pay the remaining fee of his/ her existing course. Only these students will be allowed to switch their course.
