Three Skill Development Colleges to Come Up in Nanden, Wardha

Maharashtra state government has approved three-degree colleges in the state to offer job-oriented courses. Two of the degree colleges will be established in Nanded, and one of them will come up in Wardha region of Mumbai. The new degree colleges will have courses such as B.A. Administrative Services,B.com Banking and B.Sc Finance among others.

The degree colleges are a part of the skill-development category colleges. A total of 111 new colleges have been approved by the state government in the 2019-20 academic year. As per the reports, the government has been asking the state universities to include vocational education as per the local requirements to increase the employability of the students.

Last year, a survey was conducted by universities among industries, students, teachers and stakeholders to determine what courses and colleges are suited the best in different states of the country. As per the result of the survey, it was decided to set up new colleges and career-oriented courses in respect to geographical areas.

One of the prime reasons for the limited colleges in the new category is the lack of skilled teachers. One of the members of the Mumbai University management council said that even though the government is taking initiatives, teachers lack proper training for such courses. The universities have to start the capacity-building exercise to provide training to teachers.
