University of Mumbai also known as Mumbai University and MU. Mumbai University is situated in the city of Mumbai (earlier known as Bombay), Maharashtra. The University of Mumbai was established on July 18, 1857. Mumbai University is spread over 243 acres of land. The University of Mumbai is accredited by University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Mumbai university currently has 711 affiliated colleges and there are around 5.5 lakhs students enrolled in Mumbai University. The University of Mumbai offers Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral courses, as well as diplomas and certificates in many disciplines such as Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor’s of Mass Media (B.M.M.), Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Bachelor of Law (LL.B.), Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) etc. In 2011, the total number of enrolled students was 549,432.
