An alliance of doctors seriously alleged that NITI Aayog's report seeks further privatisation and commercialisation of medical education in the country rather than keep it in check. Various concerns have been raised against the framework proposed in the National Medical Commission draft bill.

Alliance of Doctors for the Ethical Health Care (ADEH) termed the bill and the report as a massive disappointment. Replacing Medical Council of India is the worst suggestion made by the government rather than taking remedial steps.

ADEH suggested that NITI Ayog has to bring a policy which keeps a check on growing commercialisation in education. Instead, the policy recommended by the committee is raising concern over privatisation and commercialisation of medical education.

Member of ADEH, Dr. Shukla said that the policies of NITI Aayog are weak. There is a need to clamp down the unethical practices which are widespread. The report did not give any priority to this issue.

Various members of ADEH mentioned that if the proposed National Medical Commissions comes to force in the place of Medical Council of India, it will lead to “proliferation of sub-standard medical colleges”. It will also give rise to corruption which is already prevalent in the present system.

The report also states that there should be no regulation of fees in private medical colleges. The members of ADEH criticised that this will lead to legitimising and legalising profiteering in medical education.
