Delhi University’s Mock Indian Parliament (DUMIP) is a student managed committee that debates and discusses on grave national & social issues.

Well, the Delhi University’s Mock Indian Parliament (DUMIP) is what you join. Today! A group of about 400 members as of today, this elite group discusses and debates on grave national & social issues – be it about Uri attacks or Industry Water Treaty, or criminalization of politics or freedom of expression and speech or any other issue that is topical in nature or that impacts a large group of people in general.
These debates in the mock parliament are heated, but unlike what we see in the real-life Parliamentary sessions, these discussions are extremely productive and conclusive. Our politicians can learn a thing or two from these students! And even Arnab Goswami maybe!
Vijay Tyagi formed the Delhi University Mock Indian Parliament (DUMIP) in 2012. He is student at the Campus Law Centre and is pursuing his 2nd year of LLB. There are 18 core members of DUMIP, all from Delhi University.

How does DUMIP work?
The senior members at DUMIP decide upon 4-5 topics basis trends and current affairs or on anything of national importance.
While this idea was moderately popular in the first two years of its inception, it has picked up overwhelmingly in the recent past. With 90 members in its original capacity, the team strength of DUMIP today stands at a 400-delegate body with students from 22 universities and 12 schools! So much so, that there is a scarcity of place to accommodate such a large gathering.
So, if you wish to hone your public speaking skills, or being successful in a GD or PI or to make yourself heard, then joining the Delhi University Mock Indian Parliament (DUMIP) should be on your “must do’s” during your college life!
