The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has recently declared that the pattern of the Class 12 science stream question papers will be made similar to that of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This came just three months before the class 12 board examinations.

Minor changes have been made in the syllabus along with few topics that have been removed in accordance with CBSE pattern.

The teachers said that the major change includes the introduction of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 10 marks in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. They also added that this may be difficult for PSEB students who don't have the habit of MCQs and who never had the same in 11th standard.

Few topics have been removed from the subjects of Chemistry and Physics, which according to the teachers would decrease the burden on students for final board preparations. However, the students also feel that these changes should have been announced a little early as only three months are left for the final exams to be held.

The Board has posted a letter on the official website of PSEB wherein it declared that few changes have been made in the pattern of question paper along with marks distribution, syllabus for Chemistry, Maths, Physics and Biology as per the CBSE pattern.

This is for the first time that students will be attempting 10 MCQs which are not beyond the difficulty level. It has been considered a good step for PSEB Chemistry students as MCQs are easier than subjective questions. Earlier, it has 8 one-line questions for mark each.

A teacher also stated that Chapter 1 in Chemistry- Solid State has been removed while the topic of 'Group of 15 P-Block Elements' has also been removed. This move will lessen the burden for final preparation for the exam.

Few topics from Physics syllabus have also been removed and a ten-mark practical exam has been added in Mathematics.
