The Supreme Court earlier decided to not hear the plea and ordered the Bombay High Court to quickly come up with a solution and this was on 14th November’ 14. The High Court stayed the order granting quota to Marathas because they found that the data used to back up the grant was not correct. The Marathas was portrayed as backward in order to give them the quota. This also put a hold on the 5 percent reservation that was being given to the sub-caste Muslims for development.

These issues will soon be solved by the court and final decision will be taken if the Marathas and Muslims should be given 16 percent and 5 percent reservation respectively in the public sector jobs and state-owned or aided educational institutes. However, the court has not touched the case of the reservation given to backward Muslims in government institutes.
