Govt. to Establish Skill Development Universities in Visakhapatnam and Tripuati

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to set up a Skill Development University at Tripuati and a top-notch Skills University Visakhapatnam. The skill development university aims to impart job training for the students who are in the final year of their education.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister made the announcement regarding the set up of Skills Development University during a review meeting which took place on December 19th, 2019. During the review meeting, CM informed that it is the responsibility of the State Government to empower students and enhance their professional skills which will ultimately make them job-ready. As per the industrial Act which mandated the industries to at least provide 75% of job/ employment opportunities to the locals. Under the Act, the state government will also have to provide training to unemployed youth. This is because they fit right in the newly commencing businesses/ industries.

He also promised that the AP state government will take necessary steps to generate relevant job opportunities in the state.

He further informed that around 25 Skill Development Centres will be under the Parliament constituencies whereas the High- End Skills University will offer advanced courses in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

The CM stressed on the idea to establish one more university for High-End Skill University and further informed that new-age courses such as AI and Robotics will be taught in the university. He further ordered the officials to prepare a plan regarding the same.
