Son of Autorickshaw Driver Secures Seat in IIM Rohtak after Clearing CAT Exam
- 25-year-old Sukesh Kumar Thogaru from Warangal cleared CAT 2016 and got a seat in IIM Rohtak.
- Sukesh is the son of an autorickshaw driver and scored 90.74 percentile.
- He will be starting the PGP batch 2017-19 at IIM Rohtak.
25-year-old Sukesh Kumar Thogaru from Warangal has overcome all hurdles in order to secure a seat in one of the top B-schools in India. He cleared CAT 2016 and took admission in IIM Rohtak’s PGP batch 2017-19. Sukesh is the son of an autorickshaw driver.
His father suffered a huge loss when Sukesh was in class 3. Bankruptcy led his father to take up odd jobs and drive an autorickshaw in order to provide for his family. Despite the hardships faced by his father and the financial problems, Sukesh continued to work towards his dream.
His father worked hard to ensure that both his sons get the required education. In the hope of helping their family overcome the financial problems, both Sukesh and his brother continued their studies.

Sukesh had scored a little over 80% in class 12. He started teaching other students as he wanted to support his family. Sukesh didn’t have the funds to pay for the JEE or AIEEE forms, therefore, he appeared for EAMCET and secured a seat in an engineering college that has been shut down.
He developed an interest in electronic devices during his college days when he started repairing and selling gadgets for some extra income. Sukesh then got a job with a Pune-based company as a game testing engineer where he used to earn Rs. 9,000 per month.

He was later hired by Cognizant Technology Solutions and started paving his way upwards. Within three months of this job, he was offered the role of a business enabler. He also received several awards for his innovations.
That is when Sukesh decided to foray into business and management and pursue an MBA. He started preparing for CAT, dedicating close to 5 hours of study every day after office for the preparation of CAT.

He scored 90.74 percentile in CAT 2016 and got shortlisted by IIM Rohtak for the PGP course. Sukesh aims to start his own business in the field of electronics and attract the Indian consumers who otherwise depend on Chinese electronic products.
