College of Engineering – Sri Venkateswara University is planning to discontinue B.Tech & M.Tech dual engineering course from this academic year onwards due to constant disputes between regular engineering students and dual degree engineering students. The varsity has approached AP State Council for Higher Education to take a final decision on discontinuing dual engineering course. The varsity has stooped the counselling process for the admission to dual engineering course for the academic session 2018-19.
SVU conducts a separate entrance test for the admission to dual engineering course while admissions for regular engineering courses are based on AP EAMCET exam. Students pursuing regular engineering courses pointed out that the varsity has been offering dual engineering course admission to non-merit students. On the other hand, the faculty members of the College of Engineering – SVU have been criticising the varsity on running the dual engineering course in self-financing mode.
