Startup India Enables Youth to Become ‘Job Givers’ and Not ‘Job Seekers’: J&K Minister

Minister of Education and Tourism (Jammu & Kashmir) – Ms. Priya Sethi delivered a talk on ‘Jammu Kashmir Future Talks’ at Central University of Jammu on October 27, 2017. Expressing her views, she pointed that the ‘Start-up India’ scheme of central government will play a crucial role in giving a new dimension or impetus to entrepreneurship in India. Through this initiative, youngsters will be encouraged to become ‘job givers’ instead of ‘job seekers’. Start-up India initiative of central government clearly indicates its vision to transform India into a developed country by 2022.

Adding further, she mentioned that Indian students must be put on a right path to make them realise their dreams. Jammu & Kashmir is one of the states in India, which has multi-regional geographic and economic features that can be a boon to J & K students. With a motive to turn imaginations of budding entrepreneurs into realities, the government has simplified the procedures through which more newcomers can come forward to set up start-ups. These students will be guided by the able mentors, and all together contribute to the development of the nation.

The minister was of the opinion that setting up new incubation centres in the Valley would generate employment opportunities for the youth. She noted that the start-up scheme had flexible exit policies. However, youth need to stick to their commitments and set up their units with utmost confidence and care. All the universities across the state must at least try to incubate two start-ups per year, she concluded.
