Telangana Government to Digitise Education System Stressing on Skill Development

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari disclosed Telangana government’s intentions to equip all public schools in Telangana with basic infrastructure and facilities by the next academic year of 2017. The state is planning for a different education platform, which will be different from that of the past.
Srihari, who is also the Education Minister, said that after the formation of Telangana they have been instructed by the Chief Minister to not only make education available to all but also ensure that graduates of the states are able to compete with others students from across the world.
The Minister also pointed out problems and challenges in imparting the quality education like:
- Building space
- Basic infrastructures
- Trained staff
- Modern Equipment
But the Minister also promised to overcome all the problems by June 2017. The government has formulated an action plan and has decided upon regularisation of contracts of the teaching staff as a priority. The Government is planning for digital classrooms by June 2017. Digital schools with computer labs will become functional shortly and the government is planning soft skill development instead of certificate programmes in higher education institutions. He also sought the help of corporate institutes under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) for education.

The Minister also urged corporate institutions to dedicate significant portion of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) budgets for education. K.T. Rama Rao, Minister of IT and Municipal Administration expressed his displeasure over the fact that research in agriculture is always at the receiving end. Even when 50 percent of the country is in farming, there is no innovation in agriculture.
