According to the information provided by the minister, the number of candidates who appeared for JEE (Main) was 12,34,760 in the year 2015. It has declined to 12,07,058 in the year 2016. Similarly, the number of candidates appearing for JEE (Advanced) has increased from 1,19,575 (2014) to 1,47,678 (2016).

On the other hand, a total number of 823 SC students made it to the Common Rank List (CRL) in the JEE (Advanced) examination this year.
