UGC to Organise National-Level Vice Chancellors’ Meet
- UGC will convene a national-level meeting of all Vice Chancellors on Guru Purnima, July 27, 2018.
- The meeting is a good platform for exchanging ideas on significant academic issues.
On the occasion ofGuru Purnimaon July 27, 2018, UGC will convene anational-level meet of all Vice Chancellors, which will be chaired by Union HRD Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar. Renowned educationalists, directors ofinter-university centresand heads of statutory professional councils will also attend the meeting besidesVCsof all universities.

‘Digital Initiatives in Higher Education’ and ‘Measures for Improving Research Productivity in Universities’ are the major agendas of the VCs meet. Anextensive discussionwill take place on these issues, and the government will take steps for promotingdigital initiativesin higher education.
Impartingvocational skillsto students in higher learning institutes, improving thequality of educationand adoptingbest practices in educationare also among the agendas of the national-level VCs meet.

The national-level meeting is an excellent platform for exchanging ideas on keyacademic issues. The detailed agenda of the meeting will be communicated to all the VCs and participants soon. Meanwhile, UGC has also invited suggestions from the participants of the national-level meeting about the issues of national importance which must be discussed during the meeting.
Indian universities will soon make an impact in global rankings. With theUGC granting IoE status to over 52 universitiesacross the country, the scope for offeringinternational exposureto students will be high. The top autonomy institutes have already initiated the process to hire foreign faculty and attract more international students. India should also emerge as one of the hubs for pursuing higher studies for international students.
