Autonomy for 52 Higher Education Institutes; JNU, UoH, AMU and BHU in List

HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar has released the list of central, state, private and deemed universities that have been granted greater autonomy and moderate to higher autonomy.
52 universities in India have been featured in the list.

Autonomy for 52 Higher Education Institutes; JNU, UoH, AMU and BHU in List

On March 20, 2018, the central government implemented its plans to grant higher autonomy to better performing private, state and central universities. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved special status to 52 higher learning institutes which can introduce new courses, offer competitive salaries and establish off-campus centres without mandatory approvals.

Two central universities including the University of Hyderabad and Jawaharlal Nehru University featured in the elite category.
