18 Universities to Introduce BVoc in Gaming, Filmmaking, Animation in Partnership with MESC
In India 18 Universities including Delhi University is going to offer vocational courses in gaming, filmmaking, animation, and visual arts in partnership with MESC. MESC will be responsible to offer practical training to students for the courses offered by the university.
A total of 18 universities in India, including Delhi University, have decided to offer Bachelors of Vocational courses in animation, visual arts, gaming and filmmaking in partnership with Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC). For the same, the 18 universities signed an MOU (memorandum of understanding) with MESC which will provide practical training to the students for these vocational courses.
During the event, “Manthan” organised by HRD Ministry and MESC, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that skills education is becoming significant for Indian education as the population of India being its biggest asset, we should invest our vision and mission into drawing a skilled population for the upcoming future.

In context to this, Subba Rao, the senior economic advisor of the HRD Ministry stated that it is the prime responsibility of every university to innovate themselves with time to meet up to the student’s expectations. At the same time, it is our responsibility too to help the students get the right career path to help them prepare for the changing curriculum of industries.

The chairman of MESC who is also a renowned filmmaker, Subhash Ghai, said that there a 72 vocational workers in the film industry itself. He further added that with the innovating time, the curriculum of film and media industry is also renovating which everyone needs to meet. Thus, the aim of these vocational courses is to not only skill the youth in India but also enhance their expertise through holistic training.
