University of South Florida Increases Stipend for Kalam Ph.D. Fellowship
The University of South Florida has increased the stipend for APJ Kalam Fellowship from $18,000 to $22,000. Students who have graduated from an Indian university and are looking forward to pursuing Ph.D. at University of South Florida are eligible for the fellowship.
The University of South Florida has decided to raise the annual stipend for its APJ Abdul Kalam Postgraduate Fellowship. Earlier the stipend for the fellowship was $18,000 and has been increased to $22,000. The university has also decided to waive the tuition fees for up to four years.
The prestigious APJ Abdul Kalam Fellowship was started in the year 2016 and only those students are eligible who have graduated from an Indian university and are looking forward to pursuing Ph.D. at University of South Florida. The fellowship is available in the following fields:

For this year, Arjun Kaidan was selected for the fellowship for his Ph.D. research proposal. His proposal was on the theme of Misinformation Spreads on Social Media that revolves around exploring the phenomenon of fake news and its impact. He completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pune in 2008 and has work experience of 8 years in Infosys before joining the university.

The APJ Kalam fellowship was started to honour the President during his visit to the USF campus in Tampa, Florida in 2012.
Till now, the fellowship has been awarded to many scholars including Veena Subramanian of the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore and Avijit Sengupta of IIT Bombay. They both are currently pursuing Ph.D. at the varsity.
