The Assam Institute of Management was set up in the year 1988 in order to promote management in the Northeastern part of India. Widely known as AIM, Guwahati, the institute was established to conduct the Management Programme since 1994 along with research projects, training programmes and consultancy assignments. 

It is because of the rich academic content and faculty resource that the AICTE has been according to the approval of its management programme. After a review conducted by a widely reputed international rating agency called CRISIL, the management programme has been structure trimester wise and the same is regularly reviewed every year.

AIM has been excelling in areas of conducting management development and undertaking consultancy works and training programmes since its inception. AIM Guwahati has introduced executive-level development programmes in the North-East along with world-class management education. In addition, the B-School has successfully conducted over 300 management development programmes with participants from both Central and State Government Departments and Undertakings including private sector organisations.  AIM Graduates do not only belong to the Northeastern part but are also spread across the country. With its multifaceted and hands-on management activities, AIM has been able to make a name in the national management scenario.
