The Sonari College, located at Sonari Town,is a leading educational institution in the Charaideo Sub-division under Sivasagar District. It has been imparting education in the Arts stream since its inception on the 5th of August, 1970. The introduction of science stream in 1984 has given an enormous impetus in its march towards fulfilling the long felt needs of the students of this vast locality. Besides Diploma course in computer operation, the college offers major course in all subjects of Arts and Science stream. Its effort to serve the growing needs of higher education of the 21st century with further incorporation of subjects is on. The modern teaching methodology assists the students in getting an all around view of engineering, technology and the entrepreneur world. The diligent faculty team of the college possesses hands-on experience and up to date knowledge of their subject and area of expertise. The infrastructure and facilities of college consists of spread-out campus alongside various amenities in the form of library, computer center, classrooms with proper teaching and learning aids, medical facilities etc. The institute seeks to place each of its students in an organization/company of great repute. Sonari College is all set to implement the ethics and paradigm of Higher Education. Infrastructure

There is one girls’ hostel in the institution. At present the hostel can accommodate 70 (seventy) border. A new two storied hostel building with modern amenities is also completed. Sufficient number of bathrooms, latrines, electricity facility and water supply are made for the students. There is also a newly constructed boys’ hostel where 30 boys could be accommodated. These two hostels are managed by the warden appointed by the college authority. In case of allotment of seat in the girls’ hostel, preference is given according to the merit of the boarders & distance of their homes from the college.
