Over 2,111 Graduands from Management Domains received their Degrees and Diplomas during the second day of 11thConvocation of Amity University Uttar Pradesh. Around 226 meritorious Graduands received Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, Corporate Awards and Salvers.
The grandeur procession comprising of Trustees of the Board, Senior Members of the Management, Head of the Institutions, Departmental Heads and Senior Faculty members entered the Convocation Hall accompanied by the band of pipers humming the traditional celebration song, marking the commencement of the Grand event.
Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh declared the 2015 batch of 11th Convocation open.
Blessing the graduands, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said that the alumni of Amity are unique and addressed them as Amity’s Amazing Achievers. He motivated them to dream big with open eyes. He advised graduands to instill self-confidence in them which will help them reach the pinnacle of success. He shared that Amity’s environment is enthused with rich Indian values and traditions, ethics and ethos and behavioral skills, which makes students not only thorough professionals but also good human beings. Dr. Chauhan asked the graduands to imbibe humility and develop a pragmatic approach in their lives which will aid them in running miles on track of success.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Balvinder Shukla- Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh presented a brief report of the University in which she touched upon key achievements and initiatives that have been taken during the year 2014-2015. She highlighted that during convocation 2015, 11,798 graduands of Amity University Uttar Pradesh, 263 graduands of Amity University Dubai and 395 graduands of 4 online programs in 30 African countres under E-Pan Network Project are being conferred with Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates. She lauded the efforts of faculty members for shaping the students in their education journey and contributing towards University’s exemplary excellence and achievements. Dr. Shukla appraised that it is the perseverance, hard work and dedication of Amitians which resulted in achieving the glorious milestones. She congratulated the graduands and wished them luck in their future endeavors.
During the convocation, Dr. Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation, Chairman, Space Commission, Secretary, Department of Space, Govt. of India, ISRO Hqrs, was conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science for his lifelong contribution in Science and Humanity.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar said "I am honoured and feel very privileged to receive the Honorary Doctorate from Amity University.” He commended Amity for imbibing ethos and values in every student while offering global education which is the best combination for success. He remarked that the vision, passion and guidance of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan are the reason of Amity being ranked amongst the top universities in such a short time. He stressed that it is indeed the students of such institutions which can lead India to the next level. Dr. Kumar pointed that the world is changing at a fast pace and so is the technology, therefore, people need to equip themselves with the ability to learn and adapt new things, without which we wouldn’t be able to provide the right kind of leadership. He averred that India is on threshold to move higher and it requires the innovative skills of budding professionals to contribute to the growth of the country. Dr. Kumar congratulated the graduands and wished them luck for their career.
During the occasion, Ms. Jyoti Nagpal, Impression Artist was conferred with Honorary Professorship at Amity School of Fine Arts; Dr. Santosh Jain Passi, Public Health Nutrition Consultant was conferred with Honorary Professorship at Amity Institute of Public health and Ms Parul Fernandez, Higher Education Consultant –XPAN International, Houston was conferred Honorary Professorship at Amity Business School.
During the day, 6th Virtual Convocation was also conducted wherein 295 gradaunds from 24 African Countries were conferred Degrees and Diplomas.
