The seventh convocation ceremony of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) took place in a grand manner on January 12, 2018. During the GTU convocation ceremony, 4,363 students were awarded PG, UG and doctorate degrees. One of the major highlights of the convocation ceremony is conferring degree to a 15-year old B.Tech Electrical Engineering graduate, Nirbhay Thacker.
Nirbhay Thacker is the youngest engineering graduate of GTU. He completed special one-year B.Tech in Electrical Engineering course at SAL Institute of Technology and Engineering Research. He cleared Class XII from Cambridge Board in March 2016. In October 2017, he appeared for special final-year B.Tech exams with 52 subjects. Unique question papers were prepared for the exams.

The most surprising thing about Nirbhay Thacker is that he had completed higher education from Class VIII to Class XII in just one year. Academic Council of GTU approved the admission to Nirbhay into B.Tech course. A special exam was conducted exclusively for Nirbhay, and he cleared the exam with a CGPA of 8.23.
Nirbhay’s aim is to complete 10 B.Tech degrees in the next four years. His plan is to open a research centre in India. Attaining multiple skills in varied skills is the major agenda of Nirbhay. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has already offered him a seat in Ph.D. course, and is ready to fund his project. With the help of his father’s unique method of studying faster, Nirbhay has been able to achieve this feat. Nirbhay Academy will be set up to help other students develop this unique studying technique.

The seventh convocation ceremony of GTU also witnessed a 51-year old Prasanth Jani receiving the Ph.D. degree in management on Role of Information and Communication Technologies.
