150 New Universities Established in Last Three Years, Gujarat Tops List

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) informed that the government has set up 150 new universities in the last three years. Among all the states, Gujarat topped the list with 19 new universities followed by Madhya Pradesh with 16. In the year 2015-16, eight new universities were established in Gujarat followed by seven in 2016-17 and four in 2017-18. Majority of these universities belong to the private sector, clarified by HRD Ministry.

Even though Gujarat tops in terms of the number of new universities, the state is far away from other states in terms of new colleges in the last three years.
