University of Calcutta (CU), Kolkata invites applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programoffered at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Ph.D. in History offered in the Department of History for the session 2016.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should have a M.A degree to be eligible to apply for Ph.D. in History program.
Eligibility criteria for Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics will be as per UGC guide lines for University Ph.D. regulations.
How to Apply
Candidates should apply in plain paper in the format mentioned below after paying Rs. 100/- to the university cash counter through a challan available from the University Sales Counter at the C.U. College Street Campus.
Selection Procedure
Admission will be strictly on the basis of a written test to be followed by interview for the shortlisted candidates.
Candidates who have already passed UGC-CSIR (JRF) NET/SET/SLET/GATE/Teacher fellowship or equivalent examination or passed M.Phil/M.Tech or equivalent examination need not appear at the written test. They can directly apply for the viva voce/counseling.
Candidates already qualified in U.G.C/ (JRF) Examination/ NET/ SET examinations, and those who have M.Phil degrees from recognized Universities, need not appear at the written examination and can directly apply to appear for the interview.
All successful candidates (RET qualified and qualified in UGC/ (JRF) examination/ NET/SET examinations, and those who have M.Phil degrees) will have to submit a research proposal (1000 words).

List of eligible candidates will be displayed: Friday, January 08, 2016.
Tentative date for written examination: Friday, January 15, 2016.
Tentative date of result publication: Friday, January 22, 2016.
Tentative date for viva-voce: Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
For History
Last date for submission of application form: Monday, January 04, 2016.
Date for written examination: Monday, January 18, 2016.
