The rankings is based on several indicators from more than 800 top universities in the world.

L Karunamoorthy, chairman, Mechanical Engineering Department, said to media, ”with 90 per cent teachers having PhDs, the strong exchange of research ideas between foreign universities through MoUs has helped raise the reputation considered for the report”.
The students are provided with advanced training through lab facilities which are available for almost all the subjects. While IITs dominated the list, AU and the University of Delhi offering degrees to a larger number of students managed to reach the top 10. No private university got a spot in the top 10.
Considering all the universities in the world, AU stood 293rd among the world’s top universities.
