Agra Medical College, also known as Sarojini Naidu (SN) Medical College has decided to set up sports and recreational facility for students. The decision was taken after a study conducted by SPM (Social Preventive Medicine) Department. According to SPM, most medical students suffer from diseases like pre-hypertension and pre-diabetes. With a motive to reduce the tendencies of hypertension in students, the administration of SN Medical College has come forward to establish hi-tech auditorium, party hall, tennis court etc.
For setting up sports and recreational facility on the campus, the administration of SN Medical College has released Rs. 1 crore. According to sources, the recreational and sports facility will be operational from July 2018.

Chief Medical Superintendent of SN Medical College, Dr. Ajay Agarwal revealed that the administration planned to set up sports and recreational facility on the campus a long time ago. Finally, the proposal has been materialised, and the process for setting up these facilities is underway. A hi-tech auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 students, multipurpose hall for different activities and tennis court will be established initially, he added.
Dr. Ajay Agarwal also pointed that recreational activities and engaging in sports will help the students reduce hypertension and stress. Students need both physical and mental fitness to excel in career. Therefore, these facilities will be beneficial for students, he concluded.

Medical colleges across the country will have to take similar steps to reduce stress, pressure and hypertension in students.
