2,500 Plus Agricultural Seats Remain Vacant in Past Four Years

More than 2500 seats are lying vacant in the undergraduate and postgraduate agricultural courses and its related field. AIEEA is the all India examination conducted by the Agricultural Ministry for UG and PG admissions in agricultural courses.

2,500 Plus Agricultural Seats Remain Vacant in Past Four Years

There are over 2,500 seats vacant in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research- ICAR from its all-India quota in the last four years. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous body which comes under the ageis of Agriculture Ministry. ICAR manages and coordinates agriculture education in the country.

Agriculture Ministry organises the All India Entrance Examination for Admission- AIEEA for admission to UG and PG courses in the field of agriculture for government higher educational institutions in the country.

The AIEEA entrance examination is conducted for 15% of the total undergraduate and 25% of the total postgraduate seats in the government institutes. According to the reports of the Council, over 2,558 seats were vacant in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the past four years across these institutes.

In the 2018 academic year, a total of 1463 seats in UG programmes and 1,095 seats in PG programmes were left vacant.

Apart from this, the council is yet to refund the fees which it collected from the students during counselling. More than 25,000 students registered for the counselling round and paid Rs.2,000 as registration fees.

ICAR has to refund Rs.4,52,34000 to the candidates who were not given admission either in UG and PG courses. One of the RTI Applicant, Chandrashekhar Gaur informed that the information bulletin does not specify the date by which the fees will be refunded.
