There are over 400 PGDM institutes across the country, which are under the ambit of AICTE. Many complaints have been received by AICTE from students stating that these institutes were reluctant to refund the fees ranging between Rs. 3 lakh to more than Rs. 10 lakh if the students wish to withdraw the admission. Therefore, AICTE has directed all these institutes to refund the entire fee paid by the candidates and deduct no more than Rs. 1,000. These institutes should also return the certificates of the students. However, this provision will be applicable only if students withdraw admission before the last date.

According to revised guidelines of AICTE, the last date to withdraw admissions will be June 30 every year. PGDM institutes should also publish the details of fee structure on their official websites, AICTE clarified.

PGDM institutes can shortlist the candidates based on the percentile or rank in the entrance exams (as mentioned above), academic performance in Class 10, Class12 and UG. AICTE further clarified that the duration of PGDM courses offered by institutes should not be less than 21 months, and PGDM institutes must follow the academic calendar prescribed by AICTE. The admission process should begin on March 1 every year and close by June 30 every year.
