AKTU to Evaluate Semester Tests Digitally

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) is gearing up to evaluate around 20 lakh answer scripts of semester examinations digitally. The semester examinations will commence from December 7, 2016. Last year, the varsity had digitally evaluated the answer scripts of M.Tech and M.Pharma courses.

However, the varsity has decided to take up complete digitalization of evaluating answer scripts. The decision was taken at a meeting on November 15, 2016. On the other hand, the varsity has also decided to show scanned copies of answer scripts to parents and students.

JP Pandey, Controller of Examination, revealed that the process of digitally evaluating the answer scripts would bring transparency in the evaluation. The process eliminates the problem of incorrect calculation of marks, and the students could get the scanned copies of answer scripts within a few days under Right to Information (RTI). Earlier, it used to take one month to send the scanned copies.

Pandey further added that the software used for evaluation ensures correct calculation of marks and eliminates the need for re-evaluation or scrutiny. The software also ensures that all the answers are checked. It does not accept the submission if any answer is left unchecked. The process brings uniformity in evaluation with every correct answer available as the model solution.

He also explained that students need not feel that they have been awarded fewer marks. An answer key ensures accurate evaluation and the students will be awarded marks without any discrepancies.

Cool, interesting and funny. An ardent lover of animals and gets a kick out of Chetan Bhagat and Amish Tripathi novels. My favourite novel is 'The God of Small Things' written by Arundathi Roy.
