Andhra Pradesh B.Ed First Phase of Counselling Concluded
The first phase of counselling to B.Ed course has been concluded on August 30, 2016. Convenor of AP EDCET 2016 exam Mr. Kumara Swamy said that the list of vacant seats in various colleges had been published on the official website of EDCET.
A total number of 3,375 seats were allotted in the first phase of counselling out of 32,145 seats. Currently, 28,700 seats are vacant for which the second phase of counselling will be conducted in the second or third week of September. The classes for the first year students will commence from September 8, 2016.
There are 487 B.Ed colleges across 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh. Recently, the government has granted permission for 149 new colleges. These colleges also took part in the counselling. This year, only 9,500 students took AP EDCET examination. The response was poor.
The principals of various colleges opined that most of the graduates did not show interest to join B.ed as the duration of course extended for two years. Surprisingly, the government gave permission for 149 new B.Ed colleges instead of reducing the intake. The government is also planning to implement semester system in B.Ed.
