Andhra University and Indian Army will enter into a significant collaboration for undertaking joint academic and research programmes for the army personnel. Vice Chancellor of Andhra University, Professor G Nageswara Rao held discussions with the officials of Indian Army on July 09, 2018. The discussions took place on possible academic collaborations between Indian Army and Andhra University.
Vice Chancellor of Andhra University revealed that the varsity has already signed agreements with Indian Navy and Indian Airforce for initiating courses in engineering, social sciences and diplomas in sciences for their personnel. The varsity also established an exclusive centre for defence personnel, i.e., Centre for Defence Studies.

The officials of Indian Army invited the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University and his team to visit Delhi so that they meet the Chief of Indian Army.
Professor Mallikarjun Rao of Andhra University made a presentation on AU-Defence Research activities. Similarly, Ujjwal Kumar Ghatak explained about the MoUs signed during the two academic years. Brigadier JK Rao presented a proposal of five Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) to be signed by Andhra University by the last week of July 2018.

The other top officials of Andhra University and important officials of Indian Army were present at the meeting. The officials expressed their views and suggestions on joint research and academic programmes.
