Andhra University is all set to introduce special skill development courses for ex-servicemen from the 2018-19 academic year. The new certificate courses designed for ex-servicemen will be launched by the Andhra University in association with Andhra Pradesh Sainik Welfare Board and Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation.
Andhra University will take up the academic affairs of the new certificate courses while Andhra Pradesh Sainik Welfare Board will select the beneficiaries for the same. AP Skill Development Corporation will manage the funds for the courses.
Professor G Nageswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University gave his confirmation regarding the launch of the following new certificate courses:
- Fire and Safety Engineering
- Fitness Trainer Courses
- Foreign Languages
The duration of each of these courses will be three months and the number of seats on offer will be restricted to 60 for each batch. The first batch for the new courses at Andhra University is expected to start from July onwards. The courses will aim at skill development of ex-servicemen enabling them to make a living and stay in good conditions.
Apart from this, Andhra University has already collaborated with Air Force, Military and Navy to offer MBA, Diploma, PG Diploma and other such courses. Over 13,000 defence personnel have already been trained in multiple courses like foreign languages such as Japanese, French, German etc. at Andhra University.
