Andhra University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Consultancy Services to render all the academic services relating to School of Distance Education (SDE) in online mode. Through this MoU, the entire academic related services starting from admission process to the declaration of results will be made in an online mode.
Currently, around 60,000 students are pursuing various Post Graduate (PG), professional, certificate and diploma courses through School of Distance Education. Earlier, the varsity had computerized the admissions and examination process through FoxPro database and stand-alone operating system. However, these are not amendable for web-based and online technology as it is not robust in maintaining the security.
Prof. G. Nageswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University revealed that the varsity had decided to upgrade the technology in November 2016. Therefore, a panel had been set up to figure out necessary solutions. Later, the varsity called for tenders to set up an online mechanism for the services rendered by School of Distance Education. Finally, TCS has been given the responsibility of computerizing the admission module.
