Anna University has announced that there will be no change in the exam pattern of basic science and language subjects for colleges affiliated to the university in the 2018-19 academic year. As per the release from Controller of Examination (CoE) at Anna University, the changes adopted for core engineering question papers in Anna University in the year 2015, will be extended to all the 500 colleges affiliated to the university from this academic session but the basic science and language papers will remain unaffected.
The basic science papers in the first semester will have mathematics, chemistry and physics. Only English paper will continue to have two sections so that the students are not burdened in the first semester and also to increase the difficulty level as they move to next semesters.

Till last year, core engineering paper had two sections in which Part A had 10 questions of two marks each and Part B consisted of 16 questions carrying five marks each. The question mainly focused on understanding the ability and memorizing ability of students. But, as per the new regulations, Part B will have only 13 questions carrying five marks each and one application-oriented question carrying 15 marks which will be introduced in Part C.

Anna University is one of the largest state-run universities in the country with more than 571 colleges affiliated to it. The colleges affiliated to the university offers a variety of courses from engineering to management to commerce.
