The merit list for the admissions into IIITs Andhra Pradesh has been released on 24-June-2016 by HRD Minister of AP, Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao at Vijayawada. Initially, there has been a buzz that the merit list will not be released as there has been a delay in the setup of two new IIITs in Andhra Pradesh. But, the Andhra Pradesh has come to a conclusion that, the new IIITs will start its activities from this academic year. There are two IIITs in Andhra Pradesh initially, one is at Nuzivid, Krishna District and other is at Idupulapaya, YSR Kadapa. Now, the government is setting up two new IIITs in Ongole and Srikakulam.
A total number of 1,230 seats have been allotted for IIIT, Nuzivid. A total number of 507 girls and 644 boys secured seats in the institution. In the IIIT, Idupulapaya, out of 770 seats, 326 boys and 395 girls secured the seats.
The first phase of counselling and certificates verification will commence from 20, 21-July-2016 and the classes will commence from 1-August-2016. The students expressed their sigh of relief as the government announced that the seats for IIIT, Srikakulam will be allotted in IIIT, Nuzivid and the seats for IIIT, Ongole in IIIT, Idupulapaya.
The notification for the admission into new IIITs will be announced in a week.
