Bihar Board (BSEB) Releases First Merit List for Admissions

The Bihar Secondary Education Board has released the first merit list for admissions in commerce, arts, and science streams across the state. Candidates who have qualified can complete admission formalities until the 25th August 2018.

Bihar Board (BSEB) Releases First Merit List for Admissions

Anand Kishor, Chairman of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the first merit list of the selected candidates who are now eligible for admissions in the Senior Secondary Schools in different streams such as Commerce, Science (PCM & PCB) and Arts across the state for the batch of 2018-20.

A total of 11.46 lakh candidates had applied for the examination board through the online facilitation system for students (also referred to as OFSS). Out of these, 9.81 lakh candidates have been placed in the first merit list of the Bihar Board. The selected candidates can go ahead with the admission process in schools between 20th-25th August 2018.

Mr. Kishor further informed that the students can check the result on their respective accounts on the OFSS portal and can go through the admission process in order to complete it between the allotted dates. Following this statement, he also emphasised the fact that the students who were not selected in the first list can apply again for the admission until 25th August by logging into their accounts through the portal.

Of all the students who had applied for admissions, 4.41 lakh candidates opted for home institutes and among them, 3.95 lakh got seats in the first merit list. The remaining 1.22 lakh candidates have been placed in the other options of home school and better institutes on the basis of their scores.

He elaborated that the new system has been beneficial for students as they did not have to individually visit different colleges, pay money for collecting admission forms or spend extra time and effort.

While pointing out the statistics, he said that 80% of the students who applied for government schools belonged to rural areas. Also, under the new admission system, students were able to fill forms of 20 schools as per their choice by paying ₹300 only.

Lastly, he informed that the second merit list will be released on 2nd September 2018 and the admission process for the same will begin from 4th September 2018 and will continue till 7th September 2018.
