Boys Outperform Girls in AIIMS MBBS 2017; 4,905 Candidates Clear Exam

Boys Outperform Girls in AIIMS MBBS 2017; 4,905 Candidates Clear Exam

The result for AIIMS MBBS Exam has been declared and the list of candidates shortlisted for admission to 7 AIIMS has been announced. Despite a larger pool of girls appeared for the exam than boys; the latter performed better.

A total of 4,905 candidates cleared the exam of which 2,077 were boys and 1,828 were girls. AIIMS MBBS 2017 result was declared on June 15, 2017. However, the all-India topper of the exam was Surat’s Nishita Purohit.

In 2017, 3,64,242 eligible candidates registered for the exam however, only 2,84,737 of these appeared for AIIMS MBBS exam. Amongst these, 150,793 were girls, 1,33,933 boys appeared for the exam along with 11 third-gender candidates.

The candidates who have cleared the AIIMS MBBS 2017 entrance exam will be eligible to apply for counselling session basis which MBBS seats in the 7 AIIMS will be allocated. There are collectively 707 seats in AIIMS, New Delhi, Patna, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Raipur and Rishikesh.

The number of students called for counselling will be four times the number of seats available at the institutes. According to the AIIMS press release, the institute may conduct more than one round of counselling depending on the number of seats that remain vacant.

AIIMS will also release a detailed counselling schedule on the official website of AIIMS MBBS 2017. Candidates looking forward to applying for the counselling can keep track of the events through the official website.

Although AIIMS is one of the most reputed medical institutes in the country, most of the medical aspirants are also awaiting NEET 2017 results as the exam has been made mandatory for admission in MBBS and BDS programmes offered by medical colleges in India with AIIMS and JIPMER the only exceptions.
