CBSE Class 12 Students Demand Extension of Window to Verify Marks

CBSE Class 12 Students Demand Extension of Window to Verify Marks

Enraged with the differences of up to 400% in corrected or original total in CBSE Class 12 exams, parents and students are demanding the extension of the window for verification of marks. They are also demanding CBSE to re-open the re-evaluation process and provide photocopies of CBSE Class 12 answer scripts without any restrictions. The deadline for submitting applications to obtain photocopies of CBSE Class 12 answer sheets ended on June 19, 2017. However, students and parents want CBSE to extend the deadline.

One of the students revealed that she had scored 92 and 95 marks in English and Chemistry. She scored only 67 marks in Mathematics and did not apply for verification fearing that it might hold her admission prospects. Now, they decided to apply for verification after witnessing the totaling errors in CBSE Class 12 results. She is hoping that CBSE might open the verification window again.

Another student indicated that he scored single digit marks in Accounts, Business Studies, and Economics. He assumed that there will not be any changes post-verification and did not apply for verification of marks. However, he decided to apply for verification after witnessing the errors in the evaluation process. He revealed that a student who scored only nine marks got 45 marks after verification.

Another student from Bangalore revealed that he scored only 68 and 67 marks in Mathematics and English. He did not apply for verification fearing that the board might withhold the results. He was to upload the CBSE marks for the admission to engineering course, and did not apply for verification. Now, he wants to apply for verification.

Many students who applied for verification are not obtaining the photocopies of answer sheets, and instead filing an RTI. One of the students mentioned that he did not apply for photocopy of answer sheet due to CBSE’s rule that indicates no examinee is allowed to challenge the evaluated answer book in the court of law.

Parents claimed that students must have right to seek re-evaluation and examine their answer sheets.

So far, CBSE has not made any official statement on the issue.
