The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE conducted NEET-UG 2017 re-examination to 230 candidates from Telangana on May 17, 2017. The examination took place peacefully. However, only 172 candidates out of 230, appeared for the re-examination.
On May 7, 2017, these candidates appeared for NEET-UG 2017 examination at an examination centre in Warangal. All these candidates chose Telugu as the medium for NEET examination. However, they received English-Hindi medium question paper. The superintendent of the examination centre directed the candidates to proceed with the examination which resulted in them not performing well in the examination.

Enraged with the irregularity of the board, parents staged a dharna at the examination centre for three hours. Parents claimed that their children might not get a good rank, and demanded the board to conduct a re-examination. Later, revenue officer of the nearest town visited the examination centre and assured the parents that he will take up the issue with higher authorities. The parents also filed a police complaint against the irregularity of the authorities.

Responding to the issue with an immediate effect, CBSE decided to conduct NEET re-examination for all the 230 candidates who chose Telugu medium. Students expressed their happiness after taking the examination and thanked the board.
On the other hand, parents of Gujarati and Bengali medium students have been demanding re-examination to their children, as the questions in Gujarati and Bengali question papers were tougher than the English-Hindi medium question paper. So far, CBSE has not commented or acknowledged the issue.
