The central government has formed a High Powered Committee to look into the process of conduct of CBSE board exam and has asked the committee to suggest measures to make the board examinations in the country foolproof. After the leakage of Class 10 maths paper and Class 12 economics paper, the government has decided to introduce a strict measure to maintain the sanctity of board examinations in the country.

Anil Swarup, School Education Secretary is the main force behind the High Powered Committee and has asked the committee to submit a report regarding the paper leak latest by 31 May 2018. As per the reports the committee consists of various experts, that is headed by V S Oberoi, Ex-Secretary, MHRD.
Roles of the High Powered Committee:
- The committee will ensure that the exam security system is in place and all the security checks are done properly so that the question papers reach the examiners and the students without anyone attempting to tamper with them.
- The committee will also keep an eye on the potential areas of weakness from where malpractices or paper leaks could take place and securing them.
- It will also ensure that the question papers reach safely from the printing press to the designated exam centres without any tampering.
- The committee will also suggest ways to make the system more secure by using technology and minimising the human intervention.
The government decided to form the committee after CBSE decided to re-conduct the grade 12 economics paper. The exam is scheduled to take place on 25 April 2018. The CBSE leak has caused huge anger among students, parents and faculty and they are holding the board responsible for the same and are saying that re-exam is not a right decision.

However, HRD ministry and CBSE has decided not to re-conduct class 10 maths paper all over the country after evaluating and analysing the answer sheets. The class 10 math exam will only be conducted in Delhi and Haryana it the Delhi Police reports that there has been a major leak. In the meantime, the central government is working towards building a mechanism to avoid any further leaks and to maintain the sanctity of the board exam.
