Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) will get permanent campuses soon. As per Anurag Thakur, BJP MP, the foundation of the two campuses of the university will be laid by the HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar on February 21, 2019. Thakur who represents the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency said that the two campuses would be in Dehra and Dharamsala.
The university will make sure that students get quality education. The Central University of Himachal Pradesh was set up in 2010 and has since then been operating out of temporary campuses in Dharamsala and Shahpur, both are in Kangra.

Presently, the university has 11 schools including earth and environmental sciences, fine arts and art education, business and management studies, journalism, humanities and languages, mass communication and new media, computers and information sciences, life sciences, tourism, travel and hospitality management, physical and material sciences, and social sciences. Himachal Pradesh Central University has been established under the Central Universities Act 2009. It is regulated and funded by the UGC.

The university offers a range of certificate, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Candidates can apply online for the various certificate/UG/PG courses.
It was set up in 2010 as a result of the government’s policy to have central universities in each of the states which already do not have a central university.
