Addressing the students at 83rd and 84th combined convocation ceremony of Andhra University, Mr. Vijay Bhatkar, Chancellor of Nalanda University expressed his concern about the present status of villages in India. According to him, many villages lack increase in development over the few years to be at par with other cities. Therefore, he urged the students to play a crucial role in the development of villages. Inclusive growth can be made possible only when villages in the country are developed, he added.

Mr. Vijay Bhatkar also indicated that 21st century is going to be a landmark for India’s achievements in science and technology. India emerged as a global leader in the last three decades due to the significant achievements made in the field of science and technology. Now, it is time for the government to inculcate quality education and necessary skills in the students.

Currently, there are around 6.4 lakh villages across the country where people are dependent on agricultural/ primary sector. Mr. Vijay Bhatkar mentioned that the knowledge produced in universities must be utilised for taking the Indian villages on the development path.

Expressing his ideas on population proliferation, Mr. Vijay Bhatkar said that population growth has become a major challenge that is obstructing the development process. However, if we think in a broader way, it is time for the government and educational institutions to unleash 135 crore minds and aspirations. Since India’s population mostly consists of youth, the scope for development is high.

Andhra University had live streamed the entire convocation ceremony on YouTube. The varsity also set up separate screens outside the convocation hall for the attendees.
